Frogs and Flowers and Great-Grandmothers

We probably had the best day ever.  A cool and crisp and sunny fall day (finally).  We started out with a visit with Grandma W who is 97 years young.

Evelyn refused to be a part of the group photo...

But everyone else cooperated.

Then we played in the fountain and admired the rose garden outside of Grandmother's nursing home.

Then we headed to Hickory Grove for a picnic...and to run around and find things and wade in the water and do some frog huntin'.

searching...

there he is...

got him!

He's a slippery little fella...

pass him around...

Cute baby frog!  And we are 99.9% sure he survived the experience.

Yep.  The best day, indeed.

Abandoned Farmhouses

My latest inspiration has me driving up and down country roads searching for abandoned and preferably sagging farmhouses.  Friends pointed me toward some particularly perfect former homes. Both are sad and lonely and beautiful. And a little creepy...

Sunday Afternoons

The plan was to drive to Boone to find an abandoned farmhouse to photograph.  On our way, we drove to the Ledges. The road is closed because the floods washed the bridge away, so we drove around the blockade.  The kids and the dog were so excited and happy to play in the creek.  Spontaneous fun is the most memorable.  And Brian was very patient about all the sand in his truck...
